UNICEF states that: All children have rights — these are most at risk of being denied in emergencies. UNICEF is working to ensure that the rights of children affected in Haiti are not forgotten.
We ask also that the rights of mothers are not forgotten. In disasters such as in Haiti the mother either pregnant, breast feeding or with very young children is often forgotten. Especially during pregnancy and breast feeding she needs special care and special nutrition. The future of her unborn or newly born child is critically dependent on her own nutrition and health. Support UNICEF and ask that special attention is given to the mother.
